U.S. Marines and airmen work together to load a UH-1Y Venom and AH-1Z Viper into a C-5M Super Galaxy at Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton, California, Sept. 16, 2019. The C-5M, with the 433rd Airlift Wing from Joint Base San Antonio, was here as part of a dual service training exercise and is transporting to two helicopters to Ostrava, Czech Republic, in support of NATO Days. Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton Capabilities
Established in 1942, Camp Pendleton's air facility was re-designated as Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton in 1985, and honorably named Munn Field in 1987. The air station maintains and operates facilities designed to support flight operations of a Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine reserve aircraft wing, and a Marine Expeditionary Force. Marine Corps Air Station Camp Pendleton
Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Camp Pendleton currently serves as the rotary wing hub for Marine Aircraft Group-39. MCAS Camp Pendleton is home to 5,000 Marines serving in 11 active squadrons. The air station supports operations for the AH-1Z Viper helicopter, the UH-1Y Venom helicopter and the MV-22 Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft.
